    • May, 2009: Biomedical engineering students and faculty receive top engineering honors in 2009. Thomas Giuliani, senior in biomedical engineering, was selected to receive the Anthony J. Scullen Award as the top graduating engineering scholar. Dr. Baohong Yuan was named co-recipient of the 2009 Kaman Best Research Award and also the 2009-10 Burns Fellow for research.
    • April, 2009: Catholic University junior biomedical engineering major Megan Jamiolkowski of McKees Rocks, Pa., has been named a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar, one of 278 undergraduates — and 115 women — to receive the prestigious award nationwide. See complete story.
    • April, 2009: CUA hosted the first Metropolitan Biophotonics Symposium on April 6th. Attended by approximately 100 of the leading researchers in the field of biophontics, the one-day symposium featured 24 presentations and a plenary talk by Dr. Robert Nordstrom from the NIH's National Cancer Institute.
    • February, 2009: Kristen Kennedy and Thomas Giuliani, seniors in biomedical engineering at CUA, were selected to receive top awards in the 2009 DCCEAS College Student Paper Competition.
    • December, 2008: CUA graduate students Chris Schabowsky and Lindsey Bellini's research are highlighted in the journal BioMechanics.
    • July, 2008: Congratulations to the 2008-09 Nagel Scholars, the program's top students! This year's awardees are: Thomas Giuliani, Megan Jamiolkowski, Theresa Murray, Katherine Rucky, Jenna Graham, Andrew Gravunder, Patrick Noonan, Joseph McAnaney, and Timothy Mierzwa.
